How dangerous is wakeboarding?

I’m about to take a beginner’s lesson on wakeboarding tomorrow. How probable is it that I can get injured? What are the chances of getting injured wakeboarding without doing tricks and flips and just staying upright?

Slim to none. Make sure the bindings are snug, not tight. If you’ve never tried it before and struggle just to get up, your chances of getting hurt is .001%

Hardly any. Basically unless you are doing flips and stuff there is no way you can get injured… that is unless a shark comes and eats you :P
In all my 3 years of wakeboarding i still haven’t been injured

if you do it on a proper watersports lake, not very dangerous, if you do it in the sea, more dangerous. But its not particularly dangerous either way- not in same way as kiteboarding can be i don’t think. just as with most sports, as long as you’re taking care and being sensible, risks are minimal.

the other answers imply safety at a beginner level. and, for the most part, they are correct. but there never is a sure thing when talking sports. one awkward fall or twisting movement can get you hurt but the percentages are very slim. if you already have issues….knees, back…whatever, just go easy. you’ll love it.
